Food Inflammation Testing

Food sensitivities affect more than 100 million people worldwide. Food sensitivities cause a range of illnesses and symptoms, including skin rashes and chronic intestinal diseases.

The FIT Test (Food Inflammation Test) is a patented, multi-pathway delayed food sensitivity test. The test uses new technology that measures both IgG and Immune Complexes, the most common food-related pathways in the body.

It measures sensitivities to up to 132 different foods and additives spanning all major food groups.

2. ) Once the test is completed by the lab, your results will be sent to our office via Box.com, a HIPAA compliant cloud. As soon as the results are in, our staff will contact you to go over your test in details.

We now offer Zonulin Testing in addition to Food Sensitivity testing.

Zonulin is a protein that is synthesized in intestinal cells and liver cells. It is a key biomarker for intestinal permeability and is the only regulator of intestinal permeability that is reversible.

Zonulin is one of three ways the FIT test can diagnose a leaky gut, along with finding a sensitivity to Candida and multiple Food Sensitivities. It is estimated that anywhere between 50 and 100 percent of food intolerance sufferers have increased intestinal permeability. Increased intestinal permeability can be caused by food allergies and sensitivities, stress, infections and low stomach acid, among other causes. Elevated levels of Zonulin are associated with Celiac Disease, Autoimmune disease, and Multiple Sclerosis, in addition other chronic illnesses.

In a healthy gut, there are healthy cell junctions and good nutrient absorption. In a leaky gut, however, the Villi are damaged, there is poor absorption and the cell junctions are loose. This means that bacteria and unwanted items can pass through the gut, as seen in the picture to the right. Zonulin Testing is a good way to measure if patients have benefited from the FIT Test and have been eliminating foods to which they are sensitive from their diet.

The best time for patients to test for Zonulin is about three to six months after taking the FIT Test. This gives patients the opportunity to track their progress after altering their diets based on the FIT Test and find out if their Zonulin levels are in the optimal range.
